'Hooked on the Holidays' set for fly fishing museum

MANCHESTER — The American Museum of Fly Fishing will host their annual celebration, Hooked on the Holidays, on Dec. 5, from 12-4 p.m. The AMFF is proud to partner with Southwestern Vermont Trout Unlimited to offer an event like Hooked on the Holidays to educate and engage the community during the holiday season.

The museum staff will teach children important fly-tying basics with their timeless teaching tool, the clown fly. With gaudy feathers and big, bold colors the clown fly is sure to inspire a few future fly anglers and it is the perfect decoration for the holidays. There will also be a table for parents and older children with a full gamut of fly tying materials to get you ready for the next fishing season.

Children of all ages can decorate trout cookies upstairs in our Gardner L. Grant Library. Whether you like a little frosting or a lot, all the toppings will be there to make a masterpiece. Hot cocoa will also be served and s'mores will be available to roast on the fire pit outside.

Get into the holiday spirit with the family at the AMFF and experience fly-fishing history with free admission to the museum gallery throughout the day. Weather permitting, guests will also be able to cast vintage fly rods made by Leonard, Granger, and some of

history's most well-known rod makers.

The AMFF and Southwestern Vermont Trout Unlimited thank event sponsors The Orvis Company and TD Bank for their support of "Hooked on the Holidays."
