Historical society to host lecture

DORSET - The Dorset Historical Society will host a lecture by Master Stencil Artisan and Instructor, Kathie Wall Evans, on Thursday, June 20, at 12 p.m. about the history of New England stenciled floor coverings.

Evans is a resident of Dorset and Keeper of the Jessica Bond Collection of stencils at the Dorset Historical Society. She trained under Master Artisans Adele Bishop and Jessica Bond in Dorset and is known nationally for her expertise in stencil design and faux finishes and their application and restoration.

Evans will also demonstrate how to create a floor covering following historic methods. This lecture is part of the Third Thursday Lecture Series offered throughout the year by the Dorset Historical Society located at the corner of Kent Hill Road and Route 30 in Dorset. All lectures are free and open to the public. Attendees may bring their own sandwich and dessert and refreshments will be served.
