Historical Society Grateful

To the Editor:

"History never looks like history when you are living through it," said the American author and activist John W. Gardner, but surely we can appreciate that we are living though meaningful times in Manchester today - with civic improvements going on all around us. Upon the completion of the Manchester Com mu nity Library, we will have a new community center that is open and accessible to all for a wide variety of cultural and social opportunities - and - provides everyone with a welcoming place to gather.

The Manchester Historical Society is particularly grateful to the board of the Mark Skinner Library for providing a space in the new library where the past and present history of Manchester can be safely held in trust for future generations. Our thanks to all those who have dedicated themselves to realizing this vision for the future of Manchester community life.

President Manchester Historical Society
