Help control invasive species

MANCHESTER >> Attention all plant lovers in the Northshire: the Bennington County Conservation District is looking for volunteers to find and report "Early Detection/ Rapid Response" (EDRR) invasive species. Simply photograph and record basic information about a short list of species as you find them, and enter the information online. Species identification information and step-by-step instructions will be provided. The project makes use of the collaborative mapping tool, iNaturalist.

By gathering information about EDRR species, the state will have a chance to intervene before infestations get out of hand. The information volunteers collect will help to direct management efforts in Vermont, and ultimately helps preserve the diverse character of unique natural areas. This is a great opportunity for hikers, dog walkers, and outdoorspeople of all kinds.

To get involved, contact the Batten Kill Watershed CISMA Coordinator: Juliana Quant at or 802-442-2275.
