Harned-Fowler observes 70th anniversary
MANCHESTER >> On April 7, 1946 a charter was issued by the national Veterans of Foreign Wars headquarters. Eventually there were 71 men who signed the original charter and the first induction of VFW Post 6471 officer's ceremony took place at the Burr and Burton gymnasium.
The Post is proud to report that on May 11, 2016 the newly elected officers for the 2016-17 year were duly installed by Past State Commander Steve Leach who is a legacy life member of VFW Post 6471 in Manchester. The post has been here for 70 years and wishes to remain strong and viable for many years to come.
The officers that will lead Harned-Fowler VFW Post into its 71st year of service to our Northshire Community, Local Youth, Military, Veterans and families in need are Commander Bruce Charbonneau, Sr. Vice Commander Dave Matteson, Jr. Vice Commander Howard Bleakie, Quartermaster Pete Gaiotti, Adjutant Steve Leach, Chaplain Donny Cherbonneau, Judge Advocate Bill Jones, Surgeon Donny Cherbonneau, Service Officer Mike DiMonda, Trustee 3 Years Cunrad Merritt, Trustee-2 Years Jim johnson, Trustee-1 year Mike DiMonda, Post House Committee members 3-Years Dave Matteson, 2-Years Chris Conte, 1-Year Howard Bleakie and 1-Year Bill Weeks.
New members are always welcomed. "No One Does More for Veterans," and in the case of Harned-Fowler VFW Post 6471 helps the community and youth also.
