Hammell and Bottomms honored as scholar leaders

DORSET >> Gretchen Hammell and Sean Bottomms, 8th grade students at Long Trail School, were recently honored as Middle Level Scholar Leaders at the nineteenth Annual Vermont Scholar Leader Awards Banquet on June 1 at Norwich University in Northfield. Approximately 350 students, educators and parents attended. The banquet celebrated the accomplishments of 80 students from 40 schools who represent the achievements of many fine adolescents throughout the state. The goal of the scholar leader program is to honor students who exhibit both academic and leadership qualities. Students are selected by their school based on the standards outlined in the Vermont Framework of Standards and Learning Opportunities. This event is sponsored by the Vermont Association for Middle Level Education (VAMLE), the New England League of Middle Schools (NELMS) and Lifetouch National School Studios.
