Guided tours of Emerald Lake offered

NOTH DORSET - Free guided tours of Emerald Lake will be given every Saturday through Labor Day Weekend.

The evening begins with paddle instruction and light stretching on the beach followed by a an hour long paddle tour in a canoe with some short talks about trees, beavers, wetlands, citizen science, and historical uses of Emerald Lake and the surrounding area.

The minimum age to attend is 10-years-old and all children must be accompanied by an adult. The maximum number of people per float trip is 12, or six canoes. The tour is filled on a first come-first serve basis. All gear is provided free of charge, but does not include entrance to the park, which is $3 per adult and $2 per child.

Personal floatation devices (PFDs) are mandatory for all paddlers. The paddle begins at 6 p.m. for all Saturdays in August. Wear shoes that can get wet and proper clothing for a breezy lake. Those planning to attend should meet at the beach.
