MANCHESTER>> Green Mountain Academy kicks off their 15th summer season on Tuesday May 10 at 5:30 p.m. with a talk on the Sykes-Picot Agreement by perennial favorite Derek Boothby.

The talk will be held at the Manchester Community Library. Boothby, formerly a director of the Europe Division in the Department of Political Affairs at the United Nations, will talk about the accord secretly reached by Great Britain and France by which most of the Arab lands under the rule of the Ottoman Empire were divided into British and French spheres of influence with the conclusion of World War I.

May 16, 2016 is the 100th anniversary of this secret agreement known as the Sykes-Picot Agreement. Registration is $15 in advance or $20 at the door. For more information or to register, call 802-867-0111 or visit their website at greenmtnacademy.org.
