GNAT receives National Overall Excellence Award

MANCHESTER - Each year The Alliance for Community Media (ACM) hosts the Hometown Media Awards recognizing the best in community media programing. On Aug. 7, members of the GNAT staff attended the Hometown Media Awards in Philadelphia to accept the award for 2014 Overall Excellence in Public Access.

Founded in 1976, The Alliance for Community Media (ACM) represents over 3,000 Public, Education and Government (PEG) access organizations and community media centers throughout the country. The ACM works to protect the interests of these access centers and community members who use PEG Access facilities and equipment. GNAT is one of 25 community media centers in Vermont, broadcasting public, education, and government content created by and for the community.

"Receiving national recognition validates our community volunteers and staff who work tirelessly to create valuable local content. The on-air programs reflect our vibrant, knowledgeable and generous community," said Executive Director of GNAT-TV Tammie Reilly. The award winning video submission can be viewed on Channel 15 (Channel 8 in Stratton) on Tuesday at 10 a.m., Thursday at 6p.m. and Saturday at 8:30 a.m.; on Channel 8 (Londonderry and Weston) on Thursday and Saturday at 11:30 a.m. and 11:30 p.m. It may also be viewed online at

GNAT-TV broadcasts to nearly 7,000 homes in the Southern Vermont towns of Arlington, Dorset, Manchester, Peru, Rupert, Sandgate, Sunderland and Winhall (Comcast Cable Channels 15, 16, 17) in Londonderry and Weston (Comcast Cable Channel 8) and in Stratton (Comcast Cable Channels 8, 10, 18).
