GMALL announces Summer Ball

MANCHESTER - Green Mountain Academy for Lifelong Learning will host a Summer Ball in the style of Downton Abbey, on Friday, Aug. 2, at Hildene in Manchester. This event will be their biggest gala fund-raising event in its 12-year history.

The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception on the terrace overlooking the formal gardens. Then at 7:45 there will be dinner and dancing under the event tent with music provided by High Definition. A Scottish bagpiper will lead guests to the tent.

"In addition to raising funds for Green Mountain Academy, we are creating a night to be remembered and encourage guests to celebrate the style and grace of the Downton Abbey family or their household staff by recreating the era with their own versions of period dress, evening gowns, riding attire, black tie, white tie, 'tea gowns', and even a footman's or hand maid's uniform," said event Chair Judy Livingston.

While period dress is encouraged, creative costuming is not required to attend.

"We have been incredibly fortunate to have such a passionate and energetic committee," said committee member and Green Mountain Academy's Executive Director Gloria Palmer. "Thanks to their creativity we will all be able to share a magnificent experience at Hildene."

Additional members from the Man chester area include Honorary Chair, Gail Williams, Chair, Judy Livingston, Co-chairs Lisa Helm holz-Adams and Elena Atwill together with Nan Bambara, Catherine Booth by, Sarah Hadden, Georgine Holman, Julane Irvin-Ware, Lisa La berge, Tina Long, Judi McCor mick, Judie Robbins, Fran Sirak, Rocco Maggiotto, and Renee Bornstein.
