From a very grateful veteran
To the Editor:
On Sunday, June 5, at about 5:20 p.m. I was at Manchester Pizza House to pick up a pizza I had ordered for our dinner. It was raining, so I had my "Air Force Veteran" hat on. I arrived a few minutes early and told the very nice lady at the counter that I would go sit by the window to wait.
While waiting, a young man stopped as he walked by, shook my hand and said, "Thank you for serving." I thanked him and he continued to the counter to pick up his order. On his way out, he again shook my hand and thanked me.
When my order was ready and I went to pay, the young lady said "Mr. Burns, it's all paid for." I was speechless but asked her who paid for this. She said that the young man did and all she knew was his first name...John.
Thank you John, very, very much. When I told my wife what you said and did, both of us got a little teary, but also had big smiles at the same time.
Thank you again John, that made my day/week/month!
