Former elementary teacher admits to prohibited acts with a student
Brian Love, 38, of Hebron, N.Y., pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor counts of prohibited acts. He was given a four-year deferred sentence, meaning that if he does not get into more trouble during that time frame his record will be sealed.
During that period he will not be allowed to maintain or initiate contact with anyone under 18 and must abide by sex offender conditions. According to the plea agreement, if the Department for Children and Families decides his conditions prevent him contact with his own children the plea agreement will be voided.
In December 2012, Love, who taught Spanish and physical education at the Mountain School in Winhall, was charged with two felony counts of lewd and lascivious conduct with a child to which he pleaded not guilty.
According to police, a girl who was 14 years old at the time reported to a school counselor that she had developed a "crush" on Love, and he had kissed her and touched her buttocks. She reported having touched Love as well and talked about some comments they had made to each other that were intimate in nature.
The affidavit indicated that there were email exchanges between Love and school administrators in which Love said the girl was misinterpreting his attention to her, and at one point Love asked the girl to be removed from his classes. Administrators told police they were not led to believe anything inappropriate was happening between Love and the student.
