Flower power

To the Editor:

Several weeks after the Garden Club of Manchester had hung their annual hanging pots on the old bridge at the junction, we received a call that the bridge was coming down that night. Therefore the flower baskets needed to be removed immediately. With the help of John O'Keefe, Town Manager, and several employees at the Rec Center, we removed the flowers from the flower boxes hanging on the bridge as well as the six hanging baskets. It was suggested that we hang them inside the pool area at the Rec Center and plant the loose flowers at the entrance to the park and in the planters inside the pool area.

We were delighted to have a place where these very heavy and large hanging baskets could be hung, be watered daily, and be safe from curious hands. The staff at the pool watered our flowers daily the rest of the summer. We would like to thank the pool staff for their fine care. And we hope all those using the pool enjoyed having the colorful baskets and planters in their vicinity this summer. Thanks staff.
