Fisher Elementary teacher wins award

ARLINGTON - Michelle Tessier, a fourth grade teacher at Fisher Elementary School has received a "Bright Spots in Education" award from the ETA Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma International.

This award honors women educators in the first three years of their teaching career who inspire others through their creative projects and lessons, student-management skills and use of technology.

Tessier was nominated by Fisher Principal Deanne Lacoste who has observed in Tessier's classroom on numerous occasions.

"Michelle is a credit to her profession. She is a talented educator who successfully integrates modern technology with best-practice pedagogy to engage learners in a well-managed and creative environment where students of varied abilities thrive under her direction," Lacoste said.

Tessier holds a Master's Degree in Special Education and Literacy from SUNY Albany and received her undergraduate degree in education from SUNY Oneonta.
