Equinox Village promotes kindness

MANCHESTER >> Residents and staff at Equinox Village are designating February as a month to promote Random Acts of Kindness, as they introduce a new spin on the month most commonly associated with hearts and romance.

"February Kindness" is the brainchild of Equinox Village Events Manager Heather Aldrich, who was looking for an alternative to the traditional Valentine's Day focus of many February activities.

"It's so important to us here that we don't focus on that specific date because so many of our residents have lost a spouse, and it can be a potentially rough day for some. So I was thinking about how we could do it differently," she said. "February Kindness is about doing random acts of kindness in our community, for friends and neighbors. Kindness costs nothing, and it makes everyone feel good. We are hoping the idea will be contagious."

In keeping with the theme of "February Kindness," Equinox Village is encouraging the entire community to join the movement by performing random acts of kindness throughout the month. Residents, their families, staff and community members are being asked to use the Equinox Village Facebook page to share their random acts of kindness, located online at https://www.facebook.com/equinoxvillage/.

The simplest gestures often are the most appreciated, like buying someone a coffee, holding a door, offering a compliment, sending a card to someone, or just saying "thank you." There is even a Foundation dedicated solely to the spreading of kindness, filled with inspirational stories, kindness ideas and more.
