MANCHESTER - Dried herbs may be a staple in a kitchen, yet fresh herbs can make a difference in the flavor of a dish.

Planting an herb garden can be as simple as setting up a tub outside the kitchen door, or a whole garden devoted just to herbs. Cookbook author and food and garden writer Ellen Ecker Ogden will visit the Mark Skinner Library on Wednesday, Aug. 21 at 7 p.m. and share her favorite culinary herbs to grow.

Learn to create Herbed Boursin, Herbed Cheese Bread and Herb Seasoned Salt with the author of "The Complete Kitchen Garden". Tasting samples will be available and if weather permits, the talk will end with a walk to the herb gardens at BBA, tended by the Barefoot Gardeners Ellen Ecker Ogden is the author of four cookbooks, and co-founded The Cook's Garden seed catalog for cooks who love to garden.

She trained with Marcella Hazen in Venice, Italy and Darina Allen at Ballymaloe School in Ireland.

A suggested donation of $10 will be requested to support library programming.

The Mark Skinner Library is located at 48 West Road. For additional information, contact the library at 802-362-2607 or events@markskinnerlibrary.org.
