Dorset's stone roots discussed

DORSET >> "The Full Story of Dorset Marble" will be presented by Art Gilbert in this month's Third Thursday Luncheon-Lecture at the Dorset Historical Society, at noon on Aug. 18. Gilbert, one of the creators of the Society's award-winning Marble Room exhibit, has led many of DHS's several annual local quarry hikes.

A professional geologist, he has studied the whole story of Dorset's most famous industry and its background over myriad centuries. Bring a sandwich; dessert and liquid refreshment provided. DHS is located at Route 30 and Kent Hill Road; for more information, visit or call (802) 867-0331.
