Dorset Players reach out

DORSET - Have you ever thought about working in the theatre? Have you hesitated because you feel that you have no talent for acting, singing or dancing? The reality is that for each person seen onstage, there are many more who do valuable "behind the scenes" work that is critical to the success of any production.

The Dorset Players are looking for new volunteers to assist in these critical tasks and will hold a Volunteer Open House on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 3 p.m. at the Dorset Playhouse for anyone with an interest in joining their team.

New volunteers are needed to work on production tasks: set design and construction, lighting and sound, costume design and production, stage management and crew, and props. Also needed are those to assist in services to our patrons: production staff, box office staff, house management and ushering, cafe management and preparation, buildings and grounds crew, and show sponsorship. Experienced volunteers will be on hand to help familiarize those interested with the theater and each area for which volunteers are needed.

Light refreshments will be served in the cafe, gather for introductions and instruction in the theater and then those attending will be free to explore all areas of interest and talk with experienced volunteer members. Tours of the Dorset Playhouse will be available. There is no obligation and the Open House is free to the public.

For more information, call the Dorset Players Business Office Manager, Sheila Conway at 802-867-5570.
