Dorset Players' host director's workshop

DORSET >> Shelia Childs, known locally and nationally for her consummate "theatrics" that include director, performer, voice coach, theatre design and so much more, will be giving a Director's Workshop at the Dorset Playhouse on Nov. 15, 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The cost is $30 for members and $40 for non-members. Class size is limited. Participants should bring their lunch, hot and cold drinks will be provided.

The workshop is aimed at those who may have thought of directing a show, but have steered away for one reason or another - time commitment, fear, or concern on how to get started. It is also a good way to "brush up your Shakespeare" for those already in the director's pool. For a first-time director or someone new to the Playhouse, the One Act Play Festival presented each winter, is a perfect time to jump in and get your feet wet. The workshop will give participants an overview of the director's position and build confidence. Shelia will work on some ground rules including time-frame, casting, the rehearsal process, and opening night. Plan to have fun!

To register, call the Dorset Players' office Monday thru Friday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., 802-867-5770 or email
