Dorset library opens new exhibit in December

DORSET >> The featured artist at the Dorset Public Library during the month of December will be Jeanine Baum. The public is invited to meet her at the opening reception on Saturday, Dec. 5 from 11-1 p.m. Refreshments will be served. All works are for sale, with a portion of the proceeds going to benefit the library.

Baum is a passionate local artist, wherever being a local might take her. She works in pastels as well as oils and mostly paints the landscape and cityscapes that she encounters in her everyday life. Primary foci of her work include rural Vermont, New York City, Eastern Florida and the estuaries of the Southern Jersey Shore.

Baum's work is exhibited at several galleries including Ris Gallery (Stone Harbor, N.J.), Galeria West (Westfield, N.J.) and Depot Street Gallery (Ludlow, Vt). Her paintings have also been shown at The Art Studio of New York, The Papermill Playhouse (Millburn, NJ), The Westfield Town Art Show and the Designer House Showcase (Cape May, NJ).

She has a BS in Medical Technology form UNH and an MBA from Seton Hall. After leaving a life of pharmaceutical sales at Pfizer behind, she decided to pursue her passion for art full-time.

She has attended classes at the DuCret School of Art (Plainfield, N.J.), The School of Visual Arts (Summit, N.J.), as well as attending workshops here and abroad.

The library's hours are Monday-Friday 11-5 p.m. and Sat 10-3 p.m. Call 802-867-5774 for more information.
