Dig into Reading at the library

MANCHESTER - This Mark Skinner Library's first summer reading program - which will feature Rockin' Ron, the Friendly Pirate - will begin on June 27. The library's theme this summer is "Dig Into Reading" and will feature a raffle of 20 crates and baskets just for kids, filled with all kinds of books, games, stuffed animals, toys, and more. The crates and baskets will be on display in the library beginning with the first program.

Registration for "Dig Into Reading" begins on Tuesday, June 18. The first 25 children who register will each receive one free raffle ticket. All registrees will receive a Reading Time Log and will earn one free raffle ticket for every two hours they read. Baskets and crates will be on display through mid August.

Events will continue throughout the summer and are as follows:

June 27 at 10:30 a.m. - Rockin' Ron, the Friendly Pirate

July 1 at 10:30 a.m. - Wiggly Worms & Fly Fishing with Tom Deck

July 2 at 10:30 a.m. - StoryWalk Opening Day Celebration at Manchester Rec

July 14 at 1 p.m. - Jumpin' at the Manchester Gym

July 18 at 10:30 a.m. - Olive Olympics with Kelly & Her Agility Dog, Olive

July 25 at 10:30 a.m. - Author visit with Gordon McClellan

Aug. 1 at 10:30 a.m. Rock the Library with the Music by Jake Geppert

Aug. 7 at 6:30 p.m. - PJ story time and stuffed animal sleepover

Aug. 8 at 10:30 a.m. - Closing.

Mark Skinner Library's StoryWalk is a community partnership between the Mark Skinner Library and the Manchester Parks and Recreation Department and will remain up through mid August. It combines time outdoors while at the same time promoting literacy.
