Danby man arrested for assault

DANBY - A Danby man was arrested over the weekend on several charges including first degree aggravated domestic assault.

In addition to aggravated domestic assault, David L. Hall, 27, was also arrested for possession of stolen property, unlawful mischief, and providing false information to law enforcement.

The Vermont State Police responded to a family fight on Old Otis Road in Danby on Sunday, Sept. 14, at 6:51 a.m., according to a police report. Through an investigation, it was learned that Hall discharged a firearm in a household member's direction then pointed the firearm at the household member and threatened to shoot them. The firearm was broken after the victim took it from Hall. Hall then smashed the passenger side window of the victim's vehicle and fled the scene.

Police recovered items that Hall had left at the scene, which had been reported stolen by their owner. Hall was found to be in possession of stolen property and was arrested and processed at the Rutland State Police Barracks.

During an interview with police, Hall changed his story several times.

Hall was lodged at Marble Correctional Center and bail was set at $25,000. He is expected to go before Rutland Superior Court sometime in the near future.
