Community garden seeks members
Three members have already joined for the current season in addition to the 17 members that joined last year. However, there will be more plots available.
The garden is a joint effort between the Tutorial Center, Manchester Elementary and Middle School, Transition Town Manchester and the Town of Manchester.
Last year the Youth Agriculture Project cultivated a third acre of produce and flowers donating hundreds of pounds of vegetables to Meals on Wheels.
The Manchester Community & Educational Garden is also looking for high school students (who need community service credit) to work in the garden this year.
For more information, visit http://www.tutoringvermont.org/our-services/youth-agriculture-program-2/
There is a work day scheduled for May 4 (May 10 rain date). Those interested are encouraged to visit and find out more about the garden.
A plot at the garden located at the Manchester Recreation Area includes a 20x20 area. The cost is minimal.
Those interested in the garden or the Youth Agriculture Project should contact: Hilary Batchelor, The Manchester Community & Education Garden Coordinator at 802-824 4565 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
