Celebrate poetry month at Dorset Library

DORSET >> The Dorset Library welcomes the Gossamer Stone Poets on Saturday, April 9 at 3 p.m. The poets will host a reading and then the event will turn into an open mic afternoon. Guests and patrons will be invited to read a poem of their choice for the audience in honor of the Favorite Poem Project and Poetry Month. This event will be open to all ages and refreshments will be served.

The Gossamer Stone Poets (formerly Northshire Poetry Reading Group) began as a poetry reading group in Fall 2012, and became a poetry writing group as well by Winter 2013. The GSP meet twice a month, once for discussing a volume or anthology of poetry that members of the group take turns choosing, and once for sharing and critiquing their poetry and working on elements of craft. In the summer of 2015 the GSP self-published a collection of their poetry, "Border Lines." The group has done a number of readings and events in the area from their collection, and enjoy contributing and collaborating to the many poetry events during National Poetry Month both in Vermont and New York.

The library is open Monday-Friday 11-5 p.m. and Saturday 10-3 p.m. Call 802-867-5774 for more information on this event.
