Car and bicycle collide

PAWLET - On Aug. 15, Vermont State Police were called to respond to a reported car and bicycle crash on River Road in West Pawlet.

Steven Baker, age 35, of West Pawlet was driving a 2006 Chevy van when he came around bend and was temporarily blinded by the sun.

This caused him not to see a bicyclist, Robert Corey, age 73, of Pawlet.

Baker told police that the passenger side of his vehicle clipped the bicycle and bicyclist, causing damage to his passenager side mirror and causing Corey to be transported to Rutland Regional Medical Center for minor injuries. Baker's van was driven from the scene. Fire and Rescue both responded to the scene. This case is still under investigation.The Town of Manchester is in the process of reviewing the bids from their recent Request for Proposal (RFP) to build solar projects on Town land.
