Bulldogs win fourth game in five days

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION -- The Burr and Burton Academy boys basketball team won its fourth game in five days on Saturday as the Bulldogs topped Hartford 56-42 on the road.

Up by only a point at halftime, the Bulldogs were able to pull away in the second half behind Joey Shehadi's 21-point performance and a 17 point, 10 rebound effort from Conor Harrington.

Tyeshawn Gadson added 10 points in the win, while Ryan Smith did all of the little things, racking up five assists, four steals, and five rebounds. Hartford was led by Cam Gaudette with 16 points, while Branson Landon added 10 for the Hurricanes.

BBA moves to 7-0 with the win.

Eagles fall at home

ARLINGTON -- The Arlington Memorial High School boys basketball team fell to Woodstock 82-34 at home on Saturday.

Woodstock was led by Chris Townley, who posted 17 points in the win. Dougie Avellino added 15 points and 14 assists in the win.

Arlington was led by Austin Hawley, who scored 12 points, while DJ Jennings was held to 10 points in the loss.

Patriot girls top Mt. Mansfield.

BBA boys hockey wins

MANCHESTER -- The Burr and Burton Academy boys hockey team picked up its second win of the season on Saturday as the Bulldogs topped Peoples Academy 7-3 at Riley Rink in Manchester.

Zdenek Sindelar led the charge for the Bulldogs, tallying three goals in the win. Jack Ams added two goals, Tommy Grabher scored his first varsity goal, and James Doherty also found the back of the net.

Maxx Ingison had two assists and Devin Straley had an assists himself in the win.

The line of Sindelar, Ams, and Ingison combined for seven points in the contest.

"It was a great win for us," said BBA coach Joe Ferrara. "We changed some lines a little bit which has seemed to pay dividends."

BBA outshot Peoples 40-18 in the contest.

Kevin Souls got the start in net for BBA, and registered 18 saves in the winning effort.

BBA moves to 2-8 with the win.

Bulldogs shutout U-32

MANCHESTER -- The Burr and Burton Academy girls hockey team put on another stellar performance on Saturday at Riley Rink, topping U-32 4-0.

Three minutes into the contest, Jordan Harmon opened the scoring when she collected a rebound and found the back of the net. In the second, the Bulldogs scored two minutes in on a goal from Mary Leech, and five minutes later Aggie Bisselle scored her first of the day.

Bisselle would round out the scoring in the third period.

Bisselle also added two assists, while Leech and Megan Grabher each had one assists.

Kaylie Benson stopped 11 shots for the Bulldogs.

U-32 goalie Cheyenne Smith stopped 32 shots in the loss.

BBA moves to 9-1-1 with the win.

Mack Attack AAU sign-ups

ARLINGTON -- The Mack Attack AAU girls' basketball season will begin practicing on March 9, and sign-ups are ongoing.

The team provides participants with an opportunity to improve basketball skills and knowledge through a challenging level of play. Girls ages 8-17 who are interested in participating should contact coach Kerry Csizmesia at kerrycsizmesia@yahoo.com or call 860-326-5024. Information about the season, including tournament dates, costs, and registration forms can be found at www.mackattackaau.org. Girls can register ahead of March 9 or meet with coach Csizmesia at the first practice.
