Bulldogs undone in third

MORETOWN -- The Burr and Burton Academy boys hockey team led Harwood 3-1 entering the third period, but the Highlanders were able to make the comeback and top the Bulldogs 4-3 on Saturday.

"It was a heartbreaking loss," coach Joe Ferrara said. "It was the sign of a young team. We weren't playing to win, we were playing not to lose."

Chris Kornaros scored the first goal for BBA, and Andy Ishu scored the next two, one off an assist from Nolan Johnson and one from Tyler King, to give the Bulldogs a 3-1 lead heading into the third.

But late in the third Ty Delphia scored his second goal of the game to give Harwood the 4-3 win. Adam Lamson and Justin Cantwell each added a goal, with Delphia assisting on both goals.

BBA goaltender Julian Woodrow made 19 saves in the win, and Ferrara said that Woodrow "played fantastic in net for us." His counterpart, Elliot Emberley, made 25 saves in the win.

BBA falls to 0-2, and will return to action on Wednesday at Hartford. Harwood is 1-0 with the win.

BBA girls hockey postponed

MANCHESTER -- Ice issues at Riley Rink forced the postponement of the Burr and Burton Academy girls hockey game on Saturday night against Champlain Valley-South Burlingtion.

The game will now be played on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
