Bulldogs boys basketball continues successful campaign

RUTLAND >> The Burr and Burton Academy boys basketball team pulled away in the fourth quarter, outscoring Mount St. Joseph by 13 in the final period for a 57-42 win.

Griff Stalcup led all scorers with 22 points, including four 3-pointers, while Cam Bunker added 10 and Dylan Little pitched in with nine. Three players scored in double figures for MSJ.

BBA improves to 9-4 and hosts Brattleboro on Friday.

Bulldogs cruise past Cosmos

MANCHESTER >> The Burr and Burton Academy boys basketball team took a 40-9 lead at halftime en route to a 68-18 win over an undermanned Springfield team.

Griff Stalcup led the way for the Bulldogs with 14 points and 14 rebounds, while Eric Fenton had 13 points and four steals off the bench.

Carter Vickers and Sean Apps also added eight points each for the 8-4 Bulldogs.

BBA travels to MSJ on Wednesday and hosts Brattleboro on Friday.

Bulldogs come up short against Slaters

FAIR HAVEN >> The Burr and Burton Academy girls basketball fell 43-30 to Fair Haven on Wednesday on the road.

Stephanie Boucher led the Bulldogs with 11 points, while Emily Bleakie added seven for BBA, who drop to 5-8 on the season. Lexi Quenneville led the Slaters with 16 points.

MAU, BBA compete at Rikert

MIDDLEBURY >> The Mount Anthony and Burr and Burton Academy Nordic ski teams competed at Rikert Touring Center on Monday.

On the boys side, BBA was third behind the host Tigers and CVU. MAU was sixth out of 10 teams. On the girls side, Mount Anthony and BBA tied at 59 points each, but MAU took third on the strength of the fifth skier.

CVU and Harwood were the top two teams.

For Burr and Burton Academy, each had an individual win the varsity race. For the boys, Scott Mooney finished the course in 20 minutes, 32 seconds, one second ahead of Middlebury's Nicholas Wilkerson.

The rest of the Bulldogs to record a scoring run were Anders Proft (eighth), Neil Thorley (15th) and Carter Hall (40th). Mount Anthony was led by Thomas Hendery's 21st place run and closely followed by Ben Doucette in 25th, Bill Greenwald in 27th and Noah Payne in 37th.

On the girls side, Helena Bigelow won the race in 26:39, 11 seconds ahead of Tatum Braun from CVU. She was followed by Raili Utiger in 9th, Carly Gayda in 11th and Emily Williams in 44th.

For MAU, Erica Hale was the top finisher in 5th. She was closely followed by Allie Boudreau in 15th, Bri Zipprich in 21st and Emily Altland in 22nd.

Bulldogs, Colonels tie

BRATTLEBORO >> On Saturday at Brattleboro, the Burr and Burton Academy girls hockey team earned a draw against a vastly improved Brattleboro team, 2-2.

Aggie Bisselle scored both goals for the Bulldogs, the first of which was assisted by Ashley Poddick.

The Bulldogs never led in the game, getting down 1-0 and 2-1 before Bisselle scored the equalizer in the third.

Molly Dingley had a strong game in net, according to coach Ed Lewicki. BBA improves to 1-8-2.
