Bulldog girls tops at Suicide Six
Five BBA riders placed in the top 10 earning them a team score of 12 - slightly better than Woodstock's 15.
BBA's Caroline Kepler finished second in the giant slalom event with a combined time of 1:19.27. Kirsten Lima was not far behind, placing third with a combined time of 1:19.79. Cali Wadsworth and Natalia Thorsson placed seventh and eighth with combined times of 1:29.70 and 1:31.12, respectively. Gabi Hasaj took the 10th spot with a combined time of 1:32.22.
Black River High School finished third in the race with a team score of 35. Bellows Free Academy was not far behind with a team score of 40 and North Country Union High School finished with a score of 48.
The BBA boys team took third in the giant slalom event with a team score of 56. Woodstock Union High School won the event with a score of 38. South Burlington finished second with a score of 46 and North Country finished last with a team score of 73.
BBA's Will Helmetag placed fourth in the event with a combined time of 1:12.79. BBA's Britton Blanchard and Zach Curtie placed 13th and 18th with combined times of 1:31.38 and 1:34.01, respectively.
In a phone interview on Tuesday, coach Amy Herrmann said she was impressed by the performance of both teams.
"Yesterday's course was incredibly challenging. It was pretty much just ice," said Herrmann. "So, it was impressive to see them out there owning up to this icy course and on top of that it was just snowing so hard. So, kids couldn't see out of their goggles. It was one of those incredible days that once they were done racing nobody wanted to ride anymore they just wanted to go home."
