Bridging communities through letter writing

Posted

GRANVILLE, N.Y. >> Beginning this August in Washington County and southern Vermont, The Gold Trout of Manchester Vermont launched free Letter Writing and Creative Expression Workshops at the Manchester Community Library in Manchester and the Pember Library in Granville, N.Y. for children and young adults.

The next workshop will be at the Pember Library, located at 33 West Main Street, in Granville, on Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 6 p.m. The on-site programs at the library allow students to explore the tradition of letterwriting, learn calligraphy and expression through art using watercolor mediums. The Gold Trout will be providing take-away packages for each participant to continue his or her letterwriting practice.

The Community Pen Pal progam, which began in August, is growing. Area students and teachers are also invited to join the pen pal program by registering with their local library or by contacting The Gold Trout. Letters will be sent to and from the libraries and delivered to the participants to maintain privacy.

For interested parents of students and students ages 5-18, pre-register for the November 18 workshop by contacting the Pember Library at (518) 642-2525 to reserve a space or email hello@goldtrout.com.
