'Brave the shave' at MEMS

MANCHESTER >> On Thursday, June 2, beginning at 8:35 a.m., MEMS will be hosting an event to benefit the St. Baldrick's Foundation and Pantene Beautiful Lengths. This will be the eighth year when members of the MEMS community will donate eight or more inches of their hair to Pantene Beautiful Lengths who partner with the American Cancer Society to create free, real-hair wigs for women with cancer.

This will also be MEMS' second head-shaving event to benefit the St. Baldrick's Foundation which raises money for childhood cancer research. Last year, MEMS raised over $14,000 and had over 30 people in the community shave their heads. Currently, we have over 20 shavees, have raised over $3,500, and are looking for more participants to "brave the shave" and support childhood cancer research. The school is also looking for licensed local barbers to help out with the shaving. Those interested in starting a team, donating time or donate hair should contact Anna Nicholson at MEMS (anicholson@brsu.org), or visit the event's website at www.stbaldricks.org/events/Manchester2016. Representatives from local schools, sports teams, businesses, restaurants, the police department, the fire department, and any local community member who would want to be a part of raising money to fund childhood cancer research are invited.
