Body of missing Townshend woman found in Winhall

BRATTLEBORO -- The Vermont State Police on Thursday confirmed that they had found the body of a missing Townshend woman in Winhall. Fifty-nine-year-old Helen Holmes had been missing since Sept. 6.

According to Captain Ray Keefe, Troop D Commander, no foul play was suspected.

A post by a family member on Facebook confirmed the death, and asked for privacy at this time.

Holmes was reported missing Friday, Sept. 6. Her husband, Steven M. St. Peter, said Holmes woke up around 8 a.m. and told him she was going to tend to animals on their farm located at their home on 560 Plumb Road. Around 10 a.m., St. Peter said he awoke to a note telling him she would be back later.

"She said, 'I love you,' but I haven't heard from her ever since," he previously told the Reformer.

We will publish a more-detailed report after the police issue a release.
