Bits and Bites: Enjoy Italian night, support library

Enjoy a menu of Italian favorites while helping to raise funds for the Bennington Free Library and scholarships for local students tonight at the Bennington Rotary's Italian Night Dinner.

From 5 to 7 p.m. at the Elks Bennington Lodge on Washington Avenue, chow down for only $10 for adults and $5 for children. Tickets can be purchased at the door or at the library.

Fresh foods

Stop by the Bennington Farmers Market from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at The First Baptist Church on Main Street. Enjoy music, kid-friendly events and purchase local winter vegetables and homemade sweets.

Restaurant week

For $20.16, you can get lunch, lunch for two or a single dinner during Bennington's Restaurant Week at participating restaurants.

Starting Saturday and running through Sunday, March 27, the culinary event is a great way to try new places, or eat at old favorites for one low price. Participating eateries include Donovan's, JC's, Jensen's Restaurant, Kevin's Sports Pub and Restaurant, Lil' Britain Fish & Chip Shop, Madison Brewing Co. Pub & Restaurant, Pangaea, Ramunto's Pizza and The Publyk House Restaurant.

Each participating restaurant will offer a unique culinary menu. Diners are encouraged to make advance reservations. The meal deal does not include beverage, tax or tip.

Vermont Yogurt Co. tasting: Stop by and meet the fine folks and taste their delicious yogurt straight from their Jersey cows in Orwell, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday. This event is free.

Get To Know Your Greens class: From 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, learn how to make sustainable choices when it comes to fish, and discover the pros and cons of aquaculture. Learn about the many health benefits of consuming sea vegetables, and taste some easy ways to incorporate them into your diet. Taught by Robin Matathias, who teaches environmental studies at Keene (N.H.) State College. Registration is required for this free class.
