Birding activities planned

MANCHESTER >> The monthly survey for birds will be conducted on Saturday, Nov. 14, at Hildene, the Lincoln Family Home, meeting at the Visitor's Center at 8 a.m. While the bird activity has slowed, the regular input of bird sightings into ebird, an electronic database developed by Cornell Lab of Ornithology, provides a invaluable resource into bird movements, population trends, occurrence and study. What is not recorded is as valuable as what is tallied.

December 6 will be the last 2015 bird survey at Hildene. Additionally, for those in the Winhall, Peru, and Londonderry, mark calendars for the Christmas Bird Count on December 19. It's one day looking for birds within a 15 mile circumference circle with Gale Meadows at the center. More participants are always welcome.

The free monthly bird walks are conducted as a collaborative event by the Vermont Bird Place & Skywatch and Hildene. They are open to all who enjoy birds, nature and the outdoors. Binoculars are available to borrow. Contact Randy at 802-362-2270 for more information about any of these events.
