Becoming a trail community


MANCHESTER >> What is an Appalachian Trail Community? How can Manchester become a designated trail town?

A representative from the Appalachian Trail Conservancy based in Virginia will visit Manchester to describe the AT Community Program and facilitate a discussion on the application process.

Join the Manchester Conservation Commission on Monday, Aug. 1, at the Manchester Community Library to learn more and join the discussion. Refreshments will be served.

The Appalachian Trail Conservancy is a non-profit membership organization whose voluteers and club affiliates protect and maintain the Appalachian Trail, or AT. In Vermont, the Appalchian Trail coincides with the Long Trail from the Massachusetts border to Willard Gap near Killington, then the AT swings east toward the the Connecticut River and Hanover, New Hampshire. The total distnce of the AT in Vermont is about 150 miles. To learn more
