BBA and MAU have great showings at Wild Wings classic
PERU >> The Burr and Burton Academy boys and girls Nordic ski teams swept Monday's race at Wild Wings.
For the guys, BBA scored 26 points, followed by Brattleboro with 29, Woodstock with 36 and Mount Anthony with 51.
On the girls side, BBA edged out MAU, 21-22, with Brattleboro third with 42 points.
In the boys individual, BBA's own Scott Mooney took first place, the senior finishing the course in 13 minutes, 41 seconds.
The Bulldogs had two other skiers crack the top five behind Mooney, with Neil Thorley coming in third place with a time of 14:41 and Anders Proft coming in fifth place with a time of 14:44:00.
For the MAU boys cross-country team, Thomas Hendery had the best finish in the race coming in eighth place, with a time 15:46:00.
Ben Doucette and Bill Greenwald finished in the top-15 for the Patriots, coming in 13th and 14th, respectively.
On the girls side, BBA had three finishers crack the top-7. Leading the way for the Bulldogs was Helena Bigelow, who finished in fourth place with a time of 17:42.
Raili Utiger and Carly Gayda followed closely behind Bigelow, with Utiger in sixth place and Gayda coming in right behind in seventh place.
Coming in eighth behind Gayda was MAU's Allie Boudreau, who finished with the Patriots' top time of 19:01:00.
The Patriots had one more skier make it into the top-10, a ninth place finish from Emily Altland.
Brianna Zipprich and Bethany Hassett, finished in the top-15 for the Patriots, placing in 13th and 14th place respectively.
Both teams will next compete on Thursday in the Bulldogs' annual BBA Freestyle tournament, that will be held at Viking Touring Center with a race start time of 6 p.m.
