Authors to visit Northshire Bookstore
Manchester >> Northshire Bookstore will host two authors, Michelle Hoover, author of "Bottomland,' on March 4 at 7 p.m. and Alison Haylin, author of "What Remains of me," on March 5 at also at 7 p.m.
At once intimate and sweeping, Bottomland is a story of love, and betrayal. This anticipated second novel from Hoover (the first being The Quickening) — follows the Hess family in the years after World War I as they attempt to rid themselves of the anti-German sentiment that left a stain on their name. But when the youngest two daughters vanish in the middle of the night, the family must piece together what happened while struggling to maintain their life on the unforgiving Iowa plains.
Hoover is the Fannie Hurst Writer-in-Residence at Brandeis University and teaches at GrubStreet, where she leads the Novel Incubator program. She is a 2014 NEA Fellow and has been a Writer-in-Residence at Bucknell University, a MacDowell Fellow, and a winner of the PEN/New England Discovery Award. Her debut, The Quickening, was a 2010 Massachusetts Book Award "Must Read." She is a native of Iowa and lives in Boston.
The USA Today bestselling author, Gaylin, returns with what is considered to be her most ambitious book to date. What Remains of Me is a spellbinding novel of psychological suspense, set in the glamorous, wealthy world of Hollywood — a darkly imaginative and atmospheric tale of revenge and betrayal, presumed guilt and innocence lost, dirty secrets and family ties reminiscent of the bestsellers of Laura Lippman, Gillian Flynn, and Harlan Coben.
Gaylin is the award-winning author of Hide Your Eyes and its sequel, You Kill Me; the standalones Trashed and Heartless; and the Brenna Spector series: And She Was, Into the Dark, and Stay with Me.
