MANCHESTER >> On Thursday, May 26 at 6 p.m. stop by the Northshire Bookstore for a special evening with renowned poet Michael

Dumanis. Mr. Dumanis will be in the area for a production of "Dear Elizabeth" at The Dorset Theatre Festival. The play chronicles the 30-year friendship between two of the most celebrated American poets of the 20th century, Elizabeth Bishop and Robert Lowell, whom Dumanis will be speaking about.

On Friday, May 27 at 7 p.m. author Jo Page will be here to discuss and sign her new book, "Preaching in My Yes Dress."

After a series of childhood misfortunes her father's death, her mother's ill-advised love affair, her disabled sister wrecking the family GTO, self-avowed church-geek Jo Page decided it was her job to figure out how to stay on God's good side and maybe

spare the family any more tragedy.

But she was a girl. And a Lutheran. Though women were ordained in the larger branch of the Lutheran church, when Page's own pastor handed her a brochure enumerating all the ways in which she, as a female, was to be silent and submissive, she gave up on the church and went off in search of sex and drugs and rock-and-roll like any rejected adolescent Lutheran girl would.

Eventually Page found her way back into the church and ultimately into ordained ministry, spending twenty years in the ecclesiastical trenches, presiding over life's rituals and preaching compulsory weekly words of hope she wasn't sure she even


Orvis Days

On Saturday, May 28, stop by at the Orvis Flagship Store during their Orvis Days event.

On Saturday from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. with Peter Zheutlin, author of "Rescue Road." This is the story of one man who has driven more than 1 million miles to rescue thousands of dogs from hunger, abuse and neglect and give them a second chance at life and love.
