Assault in Jamacia regarding stone formations

JAMAICA - On July 17 at 4:54 p.m., troopers from the Vermont State Police Brattleboro Barracks responded to an area off Rt. 30 in the Town of Jamaica (Bondville) for a report of an assault.

During the course of the investigation, troopers learned that Kevin Polhemus, age 50 of Jamaica, had been cutting wood at his sawmill on Rt. 30 when he was approached by 25 year old Grant S. Bercik of Jamaica. Bercik was reported to have been acting aggressively and to have been accusing Polhemus of knocking over stone formationsBercik had been building in a nearby river. Bercik then struck Polhemus in the face with a closed fist after being told to leave the property. Polhemus suffered minor injuries from the assault.

Bercik was located a short time later and issued a citation to appear in Windham Superior Court Criminal Division on September 17 to answer to the charge of Simple Assault.
