Artists head back to school
Tony has offered a wide array of art classes to Equinox Village residents and the general public for years. Those offered this fall will build on the skills the classes addressed earlier this year and give more advanced artists an opportunity to refine their work.
Drawing by Gesture, 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Thursdays, Sept. 12, 19, 26 and Oct. 3
This class emphasizes capturing the important essence of the subject, rather than the exact details and proportions. Participants will work with charcoal on paper from direct observation of traditional still life objects and perhaps even the clothed human figure.
Class participants may bring their own materials or use those provided for an additional fee.
Flower Painting in Watercolor with an Edge, 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Thursdays, Oct. 10, 17, 24 and Nov. 7
This class will focus on painting flowers in watercolor. In particular, students will learn to use watercolor for accurately capturing the look of flowers and their unique and expressive edges. The class will work from direct observation of floral arrangements, and will create sketches and studies as preparation for more finished paintings. Class participants may bring their own materials or use those provided by the instructor for an additional fee.
Creating Your Own Holiday Greeting Cards with Mixed Media, 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Thursdays, Nov. 14 and 21, Dec. 5 and 12
Learn to create fun, compelling and unique holiday greeting cards using a variety of materials: watercolor, colored pencil and collage. Students will create beautiful holiday cards with easy methods and simple designs. Materials will be provided by the instructor for an additional fee.
The classes are free for Equinox Village residents. Members of the public may register for four sessions at a time for $50 or drop in (as space allows) for individual classes for $15. All of the proceeds from the classes go directly to the instructor.
