Artist explores southern Vermont

MANCHESTER - Equinox Village and the Greater Manchester Arts Council will present the work of artist Katherine Buchmayr.

Come and enjoy an evening of art, live music and hors d'oeuvres co-hosted by Equinox Village and the Greater Manchester Arts Council at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17, at Equinox Village. The exhibit, titled "Here & There," is free and open to the public. Call 802-362-4061 to R.S.V.P.

Buchmayr has been sketching and painting since she was a child and has taken numerous art and craft courses over the years. When Buchmayr moved back to Vermont full time in 2000, she started taking painting classes at the Southern Vermont Arts Center working in acrylics and oils. A love of Vermont and New England and a fascination with light are what inspire her paintings.

Buchmayr is well-known for her Dorset landscapes and enjoys painting both farm animals and pets. Buchmayr has had solo exhibitions at the Southern Vermont Arts Center, Dorset Library, Dorset Then and Now, Northshire Medical Center and the Village Fare and has also exhibited at the Spiral Press Cafe and the Stratton Arts Festival.

The exhibit at Equinox Village will remain on display from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. daily until Monday, Feb. 18.
