Arlington students travel to China

ARLINGTON >> Chinese Language and Culture teacher Cheryl Cornwell and 17 of her students from Arlington Memorial High School traveled to China this spring. The group enjoyed 10 days of touring the various sites of Beijing, Xi'an, Yangshuo and Shanghai, including the Great Wall of China, the Terracotta Army statues, the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square.

Cornwell said the trip is exhausting but well worth the time.

"Visiting China allows the students to practice their Chinese in a realistic setting and to explore the country's culture first-hand," she said. "We fundraise for two years, and we are so grateful for the community's support of this trip."

The students and Cornwell will offer a presentation about their trip to the Arlington School Board at its next meeting.
