Arlington man charged with domestic assault

ARLINGTON--A 25 year old Arlington man has been charged with first degree domestic assault: following a weekend incident, state police said Sunday, Dec. 9.

According to the police, on Frisay, Dec. 7, shortly after 10:30 p.m., Vermont State Police and Bennington County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to 1679 VT RT 7a, in Arlington for a reported assault. Troopers arrived on scene and made contact with a female victim there. The female victim reported she had been assaulted and strangled by her boyfriend. Subsequent investigation led Troopers to charge Chris Barnhardt for First Degree Aggravated Domestic Assault.

Barnhardt was not immediately located as he had left the scene prior to police arrival. Barnhardt was located the next day, Saturday, Dec. 8, and processed. Barnhardt was released on conditions to appear in Bennington County Superior Court, Criminal Division on the following Monday to answer to the charge of 1st Degree Domestic Assault.
