Arlington High School musicians recognized at Burlington competition

ARLINGTON - The Arlington Memorial High School & Middle School Jazz Band performed at the Vermont Association of Jazz Educators annual Jazz Band competition at the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts in Burlington.

Arlington senior guitarist Duncan Gamble and sophomore vocalist Mackenzie Gross were selected as outstanding performers. Gamble has performed with the Jazz Band since its inception three years ago. This was the first year Gross attended the competition.

Arlington Instrumental Music Director Phelan Gallagher is proud of his performers.

"I'm very happy for Duncan and Mackenzie's recognition, especially for the younger players to see that. We are a young group with many middle school students performing in the jazz band, but we have a great time at the Flynn festival. The feedback from the judges is so affirming for our students who love to play and just want to get better and better."
