10-man BBA too much for Colonels

MANCHESTER -- Playing a man down for more than half the game, the Burr and Burton Academy boys soccer team battled its way to a soggy 3-1 win over Brattleboro on Monday night at Applejack Field.

Sean Paradis set up Reid Conde's opening goal and added the eventual game-winner for BBA (13-0), which has one game remaining in its bid for a perfect regular season.

Paradis put BBA -- playing with 10 men since scoring late in the first half -- ahead 2-0 six minutes into the second half. The Colonels' Jackson Batchelder cut the deficit with a long, low strike midway through the half but Brock Pollard finished off the win with 9 minutes left.

Mike Nolan made 10 saves for the Bulldogs.

DUXBURY -- A pair of first-half goals did the trick for Harwood in a 2-1 win against Burr and Burton Academy in girls soccer action on Monday.

Getting a goal after a corner three minutes in and a penalty kick later in the opening period, Harwood (6-5-1) led 2-0 at the half. Emma Hallett trimmed the deficit for BBA early in the second half but an equalizer wasn't there for the Bulldogs (7-4-2).

"Harwood came to play early," BBA coach Dan DeForest said. "They were really pressing us."
