BENNINGTON -- After hanging up nine goals in the season opener, the Burr and Burton Academy girls soccer team took the field at Mount Anthony on Thursday to kick off the Lady Patriot Tournament and walked away 11-0 winners over Springfield.

Bella Dworkin led the way for BBA with a hat trick of goals, while Jordan Harmon contributed three assists in the winning effort.

"I'm obviously very happy with what they are doing," BBA coach Suzanne Mears said. "They are keeping the ball at their feet, they are passing and moving, playing the ball into space. The things that we are working on in practice, they are then coming in and putting them into game-like situations."

Seven different Bulldogs found the back of the net in the win over the Cosmos.

In the first half BBA hung up six goals, with Deidre Walsh starting the scoring less than two minutes in. Georgia Lord, Daisy Sullivan, Aggie Bisselle, Sophie Miles and Dworkin were the other five to score during the frame.

In the second half, Harmon connected on a sweet cross to find Dworkin to start the scoring less than three minutes in. Lord added her second next, then Harmon picked out Dworkin on the ground to make it 9-0. The 10th goal game off a penalty, with Hannah Pinkus finishing the penalty shot, and Pinkus scored her second of the day on a nice shot from distance to make it 11-0 with just over 16 minutes left to play.

Springfield goalie Grace Morvan had 15 saves in the loss while BBA goalie Sam Sullivan did not have to make a stop.

BBA will play Mount Anthony in the final.

"They have been pumped for this," Mears said. "I am just learning about this, but they have been more than excited. I think having that momentum behind them, and the excitement of the tournament itself, can give them that little bit of extra oomph they have needed to come out on top like they did today.

The Bulldogs are now 2-0 on the season.
