MANCHESTER - Drivers are asked to be careful and to extend southern Vermont's hospitality to runners and walkers on Saturday, Sept. 6, between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. while the Maple Leaf Half Marathon and Kotler 5K Run/Fun Walk is occurring. Traffic will be somewhat restricted briefly on Route 30 from Dana Thompson Memorial Park to the button roundabout, Route 7A between the Northshire Bookstore and the Mark Skinner Library and on Manchester West Road from the library back to Route 30. Traffic control officers will be at the appropriate intersections and will suggest alternate routes.

Since being revived eight years ago by the Manchester Lions and the Manchester and the Mountains Chamber of Commerce, the race - which is celebrating its 36th anniversary - has grown and now attracts approximately 1,000 participants from over 30 states as well as foreign countries.

There is still time to register by going online with a Maple Leaf Half Marathon search or by calling the Manchester Chamber of Commerce at 362-2100.

The race this year is being presented by the Perfect Wife Restaurant, the Spiral Press Cafe, and by MVP Health Care, as well as 40 other local businesses. All net receipts from the race benefit over 20 local nonprofit organizations.
