MANCHESTER - The Burr and Burton Academy girls tennis team continued to roll on Monday, taking a 7-0 win over Springfield.

In No. singles Maddy Pagnucco defeated Kiana Nelson 6-0, 6-0. Her singles teammates also won in straight sets. No. 2 singles Jordan Harmon defeated Erin Chlebak 6-0, 6-1. Irene Matas defeated Kylie Bellows 6-3, 6-0. Gabby Vella defeated Kendra Dana 6-0, 6-2 and Stella Oh topped Lauren Warner 6-2, 6-2.

In doubles action, the No. 1 doubles team of Eliza Breed and Silvia Velasco defeated Tori Ruzzo and Miren Larranaga 6-3, 6-3. The No. 2 doubles team of Julia Campanella and Megan Knight defeated Heidi Williams and Jenn Anders 6-1, 6-1.

Bulldogs blank Slaters

FAIR HAVEN -- Behind a three-hit shutout from Noah Rizio, the Burr and Burton Academy baseball team topped Fair Haven 4-0 on Monday.

Rizio struck out 17 batters in the contest. Rizio let up a double to start the game to Ian Miscencik, but settled down and struck out the next 10 Slaters.

Griff Stalcup led the way at the plate with two singles and a double, while Jeremiah Parker and Taylor Muench chipped in with RBIs. Muench also had a triple.

BBA is now 5-7.

BBA falls to Burlington

BURLINGTON -- The Burr and Burton Academy boys lacrosse team found itself up a goal with under two minutes left in Monday's contest against Burlington, but the Sea Horses struck twice in the final minute, including the winner by Clark Stephenson with 1.8 seconds left, to take a 8-7 decision.

Carter Vickers had two goals for BBA, while Burlington was led by Jack Breen and Marley Heimert with three goals each.

Mike Sztoric had 20 saves for BBA, Jesse Bouchard stopped 14 for Burlington. BBA is now 6-6 on the year.
