MANCHESTER -- So far, so good for the Burr and Burton Academy baseball team.

The Bulldogs opened the season with a 6-4 win over Windsor at home.

The Bulldogs struck first in the third inning, scoring two unearned runs while Jeremiah Parker added an RBI single.

In the fourth, Matt Thayer scored an RBI double for Windsor, but in the bottom of the inning BBA added two more runs, with Griff Stalcup hitting an RBi double.

In the fifth, Windsor scored three unearned runs, but the Bulldogs answered with an unearned run of its own in the bottom half to take the 6-4 lead.

Noah Rizio started for BBA and pitched a strong four innings, striking out 10 batters while scattering two hits and giving up one run. Ryan Smith got the win after he came on in the fifth and pitched through the sixth, while Adam Maitland got the save as he closed out the seventh inning.

Ethan Hill was credited with the loss for Windsor.

BBA moves to 1-0, Windsor falls to 0-1.

BBA girls lacrosse falls

MANCHESTER -- The Burr and Burton Academy girls lacrosse team fell to South Burlington 15-9 on Friday afternoon.

Hayley Sabol and Morgan Bazyk had three goals each for BBA, but Sarah Fisher had four goals for South Burlington while Casey Johnson, Ashley North and Shannon Flarety all had three goal a piece in the win.

Jessie Forstmann, Katy Jones and Ryder Ferrone all added single goals for the Bulldogs.

Lauren McKenzie had seven saves for BBA in the loss, while Courtney Barrett had 12 saves in the win.

BBA falls to 0-2 while South Burlington moves to 2-0.
