The Bulldogs scored 24 team points easily topping second place Rutland who finished with 51 points in the slopestyle event. Woodstock Union High School finished third with 52 team points. BBA's Chila Carter, Jon Zaccheo and Will Helmetag finished fourth, fifth and six, overall respectively. BBA's Taylor Nowicki was the team's fourth scorer, finishing 13th overall. BBA's Elliot Buckley also placed among the top 20 finishing 20th overall.
"Slopestyle is one of the things our guys like to do," said BBA coach Jason Thomas. "We've got talented riders."
Of the six boys that BBA brought to the competition five placed in the top 20. Matt O'Leary of Essex High School took first overall, Leland & Gray's Andy Weitzel took second and South Burlington High School's Devin Capen finished third. The girls team also had a good showing at the competition, taking second place with 16 team points Ñ five behind first place Black River. Caroline Kepler led the way for the Bulldogs taking first place overall.
"She's just been solid all year round," said Thomas. "She doesn't make mistakes. She's got a good sense of what she can do given the conditions. Both of her runs were better than the second place person, but her first one was the big one."
Of the five girls that attended the competition three placed in the top 15. BBA's Cali Wadsworth and Nora Lindberg placed 13th and 14th overall. The snowboarding team will travel to Mount Snow on Monday, Feb. 3, to compete in the Halfpipe competition. The competition begins at 1 p.m.
